LOCAL CLUB HOLDS FIRST TOURNAMENT…

LOCAL SCRABBLE CLUB HOLDS FIRST TOURNAMENT IN COLUMBUS, OH SEPTEMBER 27, 2003

COLUMBUS, OH —SCRABBLE enthusiasts are invited to the Columbus, OH SCRABBLE Tournament. Players will go head-to-head in 7 rounds of competition on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the Columbus Dispatch Recreation Center.

Players of all skill level will begin on Saturday 9/27/03 at 9:30 AM for 7 rounds. Players will be divided into different divisions by using the current National SCRABBLE Association (NSA) rating list. Entry fee for this event is $50.00 and includes lunch. Rated players must be current National SCRABBLE Association (NSA) members. At registration, players must rejoin, renew or present proof of membership in the form of a membership card or current issue of the SCRABBLE News with mailing label showing future expiration. Unrated or first-time players do not have to be members. Players should bring boards, tiles and chess clocks and are requested to arrive 30 minutes prior to the first round. The official word authority for all sanctioned events is the Official Tournament and Club Word List book, published by Merriam-Webster.

Sanctioned by the NSA, this event is one of over 300 tournaments held throughout the US and Canada each year. Annual membership ($18/US; $20/ Canadian; $25/ outside North America) includes a membership card, 8 issues of the SCRABBLE News, special word lists and certification to expert players.
